Note: The fitness center closes 30 minutes before the building closes.

The J.W. Evans Physical Education Center provides opportunities for:

• Exercise Science and Physical Education classes
• Intercollegiate Athletics
• Intramural Sports
• Informal Recreation
• Wellness Classes

Weight Room

Our fitness center features strength and cardio equipment for students, employees, and eligible community members.

Summer Hours

• Monday–Thursday: 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Gymnasium

The gymnasium is available for recreational use, intramural sports, athletics, and instructional classes.

Racquetball Court

Enjoy recreational racquetball in our indoor court.

Outdoor Recreation Field/ HACC Hawks Soccer Field

The recreation field closest to Blocker Hall is available for use.

Please Note: The soccer field is reserved and is not available for public use.

Pickleball Courts

Outdoor pickleball courts are available for eligible users.

Membership and usage information available here.

Putting Green

Practice your short game on the Evans Center putting green.

Sand Volleyball Court

Enjoy outdoor volleyball during the warmer months.

Sidewalk Walking Track

Take advantage of the outdoor walking path for fitness and recreation.

Facility Information

Pool

The Evans PE Center pool is permanently closed.

Who Can Use the Evans PE Center?

You may use the Evans PE Center if you have a valid HACC ID.

Students

• Must be registered for the current semester.
• Summer access requires registration for the summer and/or fall semester.

Faculty & Staff

• Must present a valid HACC ID.

Alumni

• Must present a current Alumni Card.

Guest Policy

Eligible users may bring one guest or immediate family members.

Guests must:

• Present a valid photo ID.
• Remain with their sponsor at all times.
• Be at least 18 years old to use the Fitness Center.

HACC ID Requirements

A valid HACC ID must include the current semester sticker.

Please remember:

• Present your HACC ID at the front desk upon entry.
• Pick up your ID before leaving.
• Your HACC ID is required to borrow sporting equipment.

No exceptions can be made.

Dress Code

Proper athletic attire is required.

Required

• Athletic sneakers
• Workout clothing (shorts, sweatpants, athletic shirts)
• Shirts must be worn at all times.

Not Permitted

• Bare feet
• Sandals
• Boots
• Dress shoes
• Hard-soled shoes
• Jeans or clothing with metal rivets

Facility Rules

To help maintain a safe and enjoyable environment:

• No food, gum, or beverages outside the lobby area.
• Covered water bottles are permitted throughout the facility.
• Store personal belongings in lockers.
• Users must provide their own lock.
• Locks left overnight must be registered at the front desk.
• Misuse of a HACC ID, improper conduct, or abuse of equipment may result in suspension of facility privileges.

Facility Closures (2026–2027)

The J.W. Evans Physical Education Center will be closed on the following dates:

• Monday, September 7, 2026 – Labor Day
• Thursday, November 26 – Sunday, November 29, 2026 – Thanksgiving Holiday
• Monday, December 21, 2026 – Friday, January 1, 2027 – Winter Holiday
  • The Evans PE Center reopens on Monday, January 4, 2027.
• Monday, January 18, 2027 – Martin Luther King Jr. Day
• Friday, March 26, 2027 – College Closed (Spring Holiday)
• Monday, May 31, 2027 – Memorial Day
• Friday, June 18, 2027 – Juneteenth Holiday (Observed)
• Monday, July 5, 2027 – Independence Day Holiday (Observed)
